Coucosicum specie, known as komar or “forest rose” grows only in Rize. Komar are shrubs with five petals with purple, white and yellow flowers.
Kaçkar Mountains National Park
Within Çamlıhemşin District, Kaçkar Mountains National Park is 16 kilometers away from the district center. Kaçkar Mountains National Park is one of the best destinations for mountaineering. With Fırtına Stream on west and Hemşin Stream on east, the natural park offers a rich karstic flora. Both the underwood and the canopy comprise of endemic species. In Türkiye, Kaçkar Mountains National Park is one of the places where actual glaciation is seen along with eschars from the Pleistocene period. In this area, there are glacial lakes, glacial valleys, cirques and set lakes along with glaciers.

Located at an altitude of 2200 meters, Anzer Cultural Protection and Tourism Development Region is 54 kilometers away from Rize city center and 35 kilometers away from İkizdere District center. The plateaus offer awe-inspiring natural wonders, a rich flora and fauna, authentic scenes, and many glacial lakes of different sizes. World-famous local Anzer Honey owes its reputation to the flora. Ayder Cultural Protection and Tourism Development Region is 87 kilometers away from Rize city centre and 16 kilometers away from Çamlıhemşin District centre. Ayder Plateau is the centre of attraction of visitors by virtue of authentic architecture, thermal springs and heliski facilities. Ayder region offers also other alternative activities like trekking, hiking, photo safari, camping and mountaineering.

It is possible to see Caucasian Mountains and the Black Sea from Sal Plateau on high-visibility days. Camping and plateau houses are the accommodation options at the plateau. Gito Plateau is a scenic plateau offering landscapes that are literally above-the-clouds. The plateau is reached via a scenic forest path starting at Fırtına Valley. Huser Plateau has an uninterrupted view of Kaçkar Mountains and Palakçur, Avusor, Çeymakçur and Kavrun valleys –the spot par excellence to admire the whole region from 0 to 4000 meters.
